The Picnic

There is nothing better on a beautiful summer's day than having a fantastic picnic. So that's exactly what we did! I went to the Botanic Gardens in Manurewa with my picnic and my picnic attire and it was so much fun! This turquoise blue is such a beautiful colour and one of my favourites for my skin tone. Being a 'winter' the jewel colours suit me so well, and this blue is right on point. I had been saving this jewellery for the right outfit, and since this set reminds me so much of Swarvoski's pieces, it's one of my favourites. I like to keep my colour palettes really tight, focusing on only one colour with a highlight of either white or black - but never both! A girl's outfit can never be complete without one piece of super feminine accessory, and my vast collection of bows always has be sorted! Catching the last of the sun's light in the golden hour, I loved everything about this shoot right down to the last cupcake. ♥

Cinderella

Like most other girls who grew up in the 90s, I am a big fan of Disney. Of course, I think there is an elegance that the original design of Cinderella's dress is difficult to copy, so I went with my own version. It was either white gloves or a shawl with this dress, and gloves are always so classy. You can find cheap ones from $2 stores, or better ones from Smith & Caughey's. This outfit is a little cute but still elegant, and was put together with a mixture of store and found items. The dress was originally faulty, so I fixed it up for the outfit with a brooch. The shoes are old school Hannah's shoes, I wore them to my high-school ball. (Still going strong) This outfit is definitely great inspiration for a Cinderella inspired costume, I just need the perfect excuse to wear it.

Panda Love

It's no secret I'm a sucker for cute pretty things. But pandas are pretty high on my cute list, and panda related accessories are always my fav. This week I embraced a more 90's vibe and went with the black and white look that Pandas are all about. Keeping it casual and just chillin' in mah panda gear.

New Hair - Rodney Wayne

So, I just got my hair done and I am so pleased with how it looks! Being blonde can be a mission to find the perfect hair dresser and I have been on the lookout for a little while now. I have very fine hair so I need someone who understands my hair type but who also does a perfect colour + tone. I used to get highlights, but have since changed to a global colour as I like a full coverage. Holly at Westcity Rodney Wayne has been my go to girl for the last 3-4 months now! The first time she did foils for me, they were perfect and she covered the areas around my hairline immaculately, then she recommended a global colour which I had never even THOUGHT of getting, as I didn't know it would look this natural! Her advice has been wonderful. If you are looking for the best hairdresser who will really take care of you and your hair situation, then go see Holly at Rodney Wayne. An amazing hair dresser is worth their weight in gold!

The Easter Bunny

The easter bunny has arrived! Although it is not spring in New Zealand it still feels like it with all the magic of Easter. I brought a few of my favourite things together for this theme, including the cutest bunny ears + tail which I sourced from my local $2 shop... I included my favourite Cadbury easter eggs and a few props to finish the look. If you are looking for the Easter bunny then look no further. Frills and bows always make the cutest outfits.

Summer Fruits

I have an obsession with cute prints and pretty colours. This stationary collection by Kikki-K is one of my favourites, with a few different prints featuring different summer fruits. How adorable! They even created sweet matching inspiration cards, to put up in your home or workspace. Behold the cuteness that is Kikki-K.

High Tea

There is nothing more fashionable for a catch up with your bestie than high tea. Inside Palm Court at The Langham is the most amazing experience. I have been a few times and always enjoyed it, but this time I took a few snaps... and how gorgeous is the tableware! You can select from an incredible range of hot and cold teas, including a traditional 'English Breakfast' pictured below, or something a little different. I chose the 'Rose C'est La Vie' as an iced tea as well and it was delicious! There's something so charming about all the details here. From the adorable sugar cubes to the edible flowers everything is very fashionable. If you are unsure on what to get you can ask your waiter, who are all very knowledgeable and helpful. This is wonderful if you are not a tea expert. You can select two different beverages and an entirety of edibles you see in the pictures are included. Not to mention delicious warm scones with a variety of jams... An absolute must do for anyone wanting the most decadent day out.

Under the Apple Tree

It was this perfect space between the rows of trees that inspired this look. Although these are in fact cherry trees and not apple trees, it looked so much like a beautiful orchard that I took a lovely Auckland evening to get these glowing portraits. My style is heavily influenced by both European and Japanese looks, so this outfit is a mix of both. The bracelet and rings are handmade, and available on my Etsy store, from the Dorothy Collection. The stationary is uber kawaii! With cute little apples available in a variety of notebooks and hair accessories. With classic red lips and a classic little bow skirt it doesn't get much more sweet for summer than this!

'Spectrum' - Self Portrait Series

Something a little different, I had the idea of doing a self portrait series when I realised the five flower art canvases I had made a lovely rainbow. Macro photography with flowers and nature has been a little hobby of mine, and using interesting backdrops for portraits is something I will be experimenting more with. I kept the look as simple as I could, to focus on the emotion in each image. I wanted the expressions to be thought provoking, each one different but still up for interpretation about the exact emotion and thought behind each one. After all, our interactions with other people are all down to perception.. a little food for thought. This aesthetically pleasing series is called 'Spectrum'

Brocade

I adore lace, and especially on sheer garments. Taking a darker turn this week, the black gown makes the perfect evening dress. I gave it a classic feel with embellished accessories and red lips. The parasole I have been saving for a dress such as this one, and I found a building with just the right architecture to compliment the look. The parasol is actually sold in white, beige and black at MOTAT and is the best summer accessory. Right on the corner of Shortland Street in Auckland CBD. If you are wanting a little inspiration for the perfect evening look, then look no further

The Secret Garden

Keeping too many clothes in your closet is a serious struggle. On one hand, you want the options but on the other, you just can't fit everything! I am so glad my mum kept her dress she had custom made for her, because it makes the perfect outfit for a walk in the garden. The cotton of this dress is super comfy for summer too. I had the perfect jewels to match and accessorised it with a big floppy white hat that I bought from a $2 store, with ribbons I attached. Gotta slip, slop, slap! My shoes are probably the most exciting part of this outfit. I have an obsession for rainbow coloured objects. Plus they are super comfy! I made a cute little mood board to finish, complete with stationary and accessories

Summer Pinup

To find the perfect summer pinup location I scouted a grand total of three different white buildings in Auckland to find this one. The pinup look is right on trend at the moment and I couldn't resist doing a cute outfit! The head piece is a DIY headband I made out of tying thick chiffon into a bow, easy! I am not the best with hair and makeup so I like to create looks that I can do (so literally anyone can do). Ain't nobody got time for fiddling with their face for ten hours. Just make sure the chiffon you use is thick and stiff! Not the floaty stuff. I found a larger piece of chiffon to play around with and add a little drama, creating a little bit of art with heart
