New Hair - Rodney Wayne

So, I just got my hair done and I am so pleased with how it looks! Being blonde can be a mission to find the perfect hair dresser and I have been on the lookout for a little while now. I have very fine hair so I need someone who understands my hair type but who also does a perfect colour + tone. I used to get highlights, but have since changed to a global colour as I like a full coverage. Holly at Westcity Rodney Wayne has been my go to girl for the last 3-4 months now! The first time she did foils for me, they were perfect and she covered the areas around my hairline immaculately, then she recommended a global colour which I had never even THOUGHT of getting, as I didn't know it would look this natural! Her advice has been wonderful. If you are looking for the best hairdresser who will really take care of you and your hair situation, then go see Holly at Rodney Wayne. An amazing hair dresser is worth their weight in gold! ♥

Summer Fruits

I have an obsession with cute prints and pretty colours. This stationary collection by Kikki-K is one of my favourites, with a few different prints featuring different summer fruits. How adorable! They even created sweet matching inspiration cards, to put up in your home or workspace. Behold the cuteness that is Kikki-K. ♥

Under the Apple Tree

It was this perfect space between the rows of trees that inspired this look. Although these are in fact cherry trees and not apple trees, it looked so much like a beautiful orchard that I took a lovely Auckland evening to get these glowing portraits. My style is heavily influenced by both European and Japanese looks, so this outfit is a mix of both. The bracelet and rings are handmade, and available on my Etsy store, from the Dorothy Collection. The stationary is uber kawaii! With cute little apples available in a variety of notebooks and hair accessories. With classic red lips and a classic little bow skirt it doesn't get much more sweet for summer than this! ♥

'Spectrum' - Self Portrait Series

Something a little different, I had the idea of doing a self portrait series when I realised the five flower art canvases I had made a lovely rainbow. Macro photography with flowers and nature has been a little hobby of mine, and using interesting backdrops for portraits is something I will be experimenting more with. I kept the look as simple as I could, to focus on the emotion in each image. I wanted the expressions to be thought provoking, each one different but still up for interpretation about the exact emotion and thought behind each one. After all, our interactions with other people are all down to perception.. a little food for thought. This aesthetically pleasing series is called 'Spectrum' ♥

Brocade

I adore lace, and especially on sheer garments. Taking a darker turn this week, the black gown makes the perfect evening dress. I gave it a classic feel with embellished accessories and red lips. The parasole I have been saving for a dress such as this one, and I found a building with just the right architecture to compliment the look. The parasol is actually sold in white, beige and black at MOTAT and is the best summer accessory. Right on the corner of Shortland Street in Auckland CBD. If you are wanting a little inspiration for the perfect evening look, then look no further ♥

The Secret Garden

Keeping too many clothes in your closet is a serious struggle. On one hand, you want the options but on the other, you just can't fit everything! I am so glad my mum kept her dress she had custom made for her, because it makes the perfect outfit for a walk in the garden. The cotton of this dress is super comfy for summer too. I had the perfect jewels to match and accessorised it with a big floppy white hat that I bought from a $2 store, with ribbons I attached. Gotta slip, slop, slap! My shoes are probably the most exciting part of this outfit. I have an obsession for rainbow coloured objects. Plus they are super comfy! I made a cute little mood board to finish, complete with stationary and accessories ♥

Summer Pinup

To find the perfect summer pinup location I scouted a grand total of three different white buildings in Auckland to find this one. The pinup look is right on trend at the moment and I couldn't resist doing a cute outfit! The head piece is a DIY headband I made out of tying thick chiffon into a bow, easy! I am not the best with hair and makeup so I like to create looks that I can do (so literally anyone can do). Ain't nobody got time for fiddling with their face for ten hours. Just make sure the chiffon you use is thick and stiff! Not the floaty stuff. I found a larger piece of chiffon to play around with and add a little drama, creating a little bit of art with heart ♥♥♥

Dark Bunny

Colour is usually everything in an outfit, but black and white can be just as striking. I like to add a little bit of cute to all my looks, and finding this perfect simple backdrop in Auckland CBD complimented the look wonderfully.

Rust

There is so much to say about awesome locations, and interesting textured coloured walls included. This location threw around the richest tones so was perfect for a minimal outfit with white. The perfect out and about outfit.

The Ivy House

This is by far one of my favourite locations to shoot at, and the massive amounts of pretty ivy just add to the ethereal vibe this building has. My sister did a beautiful job of my makeup and hair, little victory rolls. I love exploring so come explore with me...

Lavender Mist

I saw these beautiful Jacaranda trees blooming and had the perfect outfit to match. That school-girl esque vibe is a look I love, and especially with pretty bows and pearls. All of the blooms! The dress is from Farmers, belt from Jacqui-E and my lip colour is MAC...

Vintage Blues

This lovely escapade took place in Mission Bay, I spotted the cutest little building that was perfect for my Portman's outfit. My kind sister did my makeup and hair, and I brought along some hydrangeas in the same shades... enjoy x

Rockabilly

This style feature is with one of New Zealand's own pinup girls Briar, and she is very much in love with the 1950's rockabilly look. The outfit is mostly Briar's own, with accessories from Collette and scarf by Lush. Shoes are from Hannah's and makeup by the very talented Alison Brewer.

Colour Pop

Here is a few pretty pieces of paper candy from Kikki-K, my new obsession.
The To-Do lists, notebooks and notepads all have different coloured and patterned pages, making them fascinating to write on every time you turn a page. Kikki-K also does some really handy things too, jewellery holders and pen holders to put outside your notebooks are just the best!

Little Pink Dress

So I was pretty excited to put this shoot together, especially this flower crown. I picked up the flowers from the flower wholesaler in Mt Wellington, Auckland and I love the simplicity of this. So much pink! I had help putting the flower crown together, using copper wire and starting with the thicker branches as a base and tying a ribbon at the back to secure it. So many pretty things!

These pretty pieces are from Collette, and the little silver card holder is just adorable, plus it's perfect for storing just a few cards in for a night out. I think these pieces may be coming up in an outfit post very soon...

The Tattoo Parlour

I am very excited to share this lovely lass with you on the blog. Briar Engel is a down to earth girl who works within the police force by day, and on her own time she dresses in authentic classic, and rockabilly pinup style, with dresses and accessories she buys online. As this girl has epic style, it was only appropriate we put together a style feature for her, and Alison Brewer helped me create the vision. We photographed at the Tattoo Parlour on Ponsonby road, and they kindly let us take over for a minute or two. This is part one of Briar's pinup adventure... with part two and three coming soon x

DIY Glitter Bottle Necklaces

I recently did this shoot above, "Full Bloom" and in it I am wearing three necklaces with different coloured glitter inside clear bottles. I made these and it's super easy! Here are the simple instructions:

You can easily make your own glitter bottle necklaces with a few bits and pieces from your local westfield mall, or your local kmart!
Firstly, get yourself a packet of these 'nail decorations' which are little bottles of glitter inside, the ones at kmart have holes in the top, perfect for threading onto necklaces.

Full Bloom

I adore flowers, and nothing gets me more excited than spring. Here in the winter gardens early spring is an amazing rainbow of colour and so it was the perfect place for this full bloom wonderland.  Keep an eye out for a little tutorial on how I put together the gorgeous little glitter bottle necklaces, I stumbled across them in none other than Kmart! The stockings are one of a kind, literally because I only made one pair about a year ago. I love them to bits, and they are embroidered by hand.
Makeup and hair by the talented Wanja Carree.

Pure

Nothing is more on trend at the moment than white on white. This forest frolic was shot at the Auckland Domain. I fell in love with the lace ears and matching lace dress, both from Dotti. I thought a bouquet of flowers would add a little colour and this look was put together one afternoon in early spring, it was definitely colder than it looks!
