During winter, August 2011 Dillon (my photographer) and I took the photos in the afternoon and got quite harsh sunlight. However for an informal artistic style of shoot I was really happy with the results, I used my film SLR camera, 400 ISO film, the negatives were scanned on around 600 DPI I think, so not high enough quality to do any in depth editing other than colour editing, lighting and contrast. In terms of content they are completely unedited and I really love how they have a quirky folk-look to them.
We took the photos in three sections: Massey Primary School, Japanese Gardens in Henderson, and around 5PM at the Albany motorway, a few weeks before it was opened and no cars drove along it. Although it was only dusk when the 'night' photos were taken, because of the amount of light needed for the camera and the film I used, the sky looks purple and much darker than it was at the time. I was very happy with the effects. Only used the flash on the camera and alternated between it on and off depending on the exposure. Most of it was a guestimate though, and with the joy of film I had to wait until they were developed to see the final results!
